A warm welcome to all our new supporters, we are so happy to have you joining us on this journey! 

Thank you for helping us hit the goal to unlock the soaring turkey vulture necklace, I am so excited about this one! These pendants are now available as optional add-ons for everyone.

Next up for stretch goals is the bat, which is a design I'm thrilled to add to this year's project. When I first started in wildlife rehabilitation, I ended up working with a lot of bats, which really increased grew my fondness for them. A lot like vultures, bats are ecosystem superheroes who need good PR and more positive representation in art and media. We are experimenting with some transparent glass-like enamel effects for the wings of these pendants, and I think they will turn out really eye-catching and unique!

Though I specialize in bird rehabilitation, I don't turn down bats in need, and these are a few of our more recent patients. Both of these brown bats tumbled out of peoples' chimneys during winter and needed help. Here in Minnesota, these species hibernate over winter, and if it gets interrupted they need prompt aid. Bats have a really fast metabolism and can eat a crazy amount of insects at a time; when they become active when there's no food sources available, they can quickly starve. They're very endearing patients and I'm always happy when I can help!

Crawe! is a beautifully illustrated book about the corvids of Britain and Ireland by UK artist Katie Whittle. Inspired by medieval art and texts, it features myths, stories, and facts about this awesome family of birds. I pledged for a book and can't wait to see it, it looks absolutely lovely. If crows/ravens/jays and their kin are also your jam, go give it a look!

Magpie Necklace + More Stretch Goals Unlocked and Announced! Earring Add-ons added

Thank you so much for being a part of this project, your support has made this all possible! We have been smashing through stretch goals, and have unlocked the Ground Hornbill pin (meaning all 16 pin designs are now available), & the magpie necklace!

We are very close to the next stretch goal, our first earring set, so I've added earrings as an add-on option you can now add to you pledge, if you like!  If you haven't done it before, changing your pledge can be a little confusing (at least for me, it's not very intuitive). If you want to add new items, you go to our page and at the top click 'Manage Your Pledge', then you choose 'Change Your Pledge', reconfirm the tier you want, then it will take you to the add-on page. You continue to check out and it will update your pledge to include your new choices.

I am especially excited about the turkey vulture pendant, though I admit I of course have a big vulture bias. When I was working on this design I knew I wanted to add sun symbols to the wings, to highlight their connection with the light and the sky. You may have seen vultures outside before, especially in the morning, wings outstretched to greet the sun, a position called the horaltic pose. It allows vultures to warm up and dry off, and is also thought to help sanitize their feathers with UV light. While vultures stand in worship, the morning sun creates thermals; warm, rising masses of buoyant air. The vultures use these to lift effortlessly and soar on their glorious, giant wings, off for the day to search for a meal. With this pendant, I wanted to capture the look of the light as it filters through their feathers on outspread wings; giving the turkey vulture a shifting silver or rich golden hue as they glide through the sky. I hope that these pendants, when worn, can spark lots of conversations about how wonderful vultures are!

We are blown away by the response on launch day! ❤️ With your help we flew past the original goal of $42,500 and did it in only six hours! THANK YOU so much for being one of the very first backers and helping these pins come to life! We are so excited for all that is to come!

• We have unlocked our first three stretch goals; the Gyrfalcon, Palm Nut Vulture, and American Crow designs are now available as choices. We are super close to unlocking our first necklace, the flying raven! We're going to experiment with some transluscent enamel on its wings so it should be a real show-stopper of a pendant.
